Bring Me Your Award-Winning Fiction

Thursday evening at The Commonwealth Club, last year's California Book Award medal winners Andrew Sean Greer, Kim Addonizio, and Adam Hochschild presented their favorite "up and coming" writers, including Susan Browne and Ryan Harty. I was moved to tears--hard on the heels of laughter--by some of the beautiful, honest poems Browne chose to read from her collection Buddha's Dogs. (Browne will be reading at Writers With Drinks on Saturday, June  10.) I also picked up a copy of Harty's wonderfully-titled debut short story collection Bring Me Your Saddest Arizona after hearing him read from it.
