Sybex, Inc.
Alameda, CA
June 1995-April 1998
Sr. Editor, Game Books
This position was created for me because of my ability to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment and my leadership, organizational, editing, and communication skills. As the exclusive in-house editor for Sybex’s new game book department, I organized the structure, developed the manuscript, and edited the text for console and computer-game books. I reviewed and refined the book design at the beginning of each project and then maintained close contact with the desktop publisher about any design issues that arose over the course of the project. My other duties included maintaining an author guide, editing book covers, coordinating author submission, managing freelance designers, and training and advising the game project editor. On my own initiative, I constructed a prototype for a Sybex Games website, pitched, and successfully sold it to the Executive Team.
